With its own unique history and culture, Nice is a French destination that is more than just a city. The capital of the French Riviera on the Cote d'Azur, Nice is the hub of the South of France's yachting culture and millionaire lifestyle. For decades the city has been the top destination for Europe's elite, with its stunning beaches, constant sunshine and vibrant bars and restaurants. The city also offers visitors an insight into its cultural past and present through its array of intriguing markets, museums and art galleries.
Nice boasts a variety of must-see sights and attractions that should not be overlooked when exploring this coastal city. Immerse yourself in the city's popular destinations, such as the renowned Promenade des Anglais and the charming Old Town. Despite its size, Nice's Old Town and tourist attractions are conveniently within walking distance.
While there may not be much left of this ruined castle, the Colline du Chateau offers some of the best views in the city, including of the Baie des Anges and the harbor. Climb the stairs to the top to really take in the views, there is also an elevator if you can't manage the climb.
Nice is a seaside town, but its beaches are pebble beaches, and so they are not ideal for sunbathing unless you have something cushioned. They are, however, ideal for swimming and enjoy views of the ocean.
Visit the enchanting medieval village of Eze, located right outside Nice. Walk through its charming streets and make your way to the top of the hillside for beautiful views.
Monaco:
Port Hercule
Port of Fontvieille
Most attractions are just a mile beyond the harbour in the centre of Monte Carlo. Some cruise ships anchor in the bay and their passengers are transferred via tender boats to shore or the cruise will dock right at the port.
Nice is a popular cruise destination that has a variety of names. You may find it listed as Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Côte d’Azur, or even Lympia.
Small ships can dock in the old port Lympia, while most ships anchor in Villefranche-sur-Mer and passengers come ashore by tender at Porte de la Sante. Then it's about a 10-minute drive by car or bus to the main area of Nice.
